People who have healthy levels of self confidence are easy to recognize. They are willing to take chances, they learn from their failures and mistakes, and they believe they have the ability to do whatever they set out to accomplish. If you are self confident, you are not afraid to try new things, and you place a high value on yourself and your accomplishments.

The amount of confidence you have in yourself is directly related to the amount of confidence other people with have in you. Building your own self confidence will help the perception you have of yourself, and what others think of you.

Sit down and make a list of all your talents, skills, and abilities. Make another list of the accomplishments you are most proud of. Review this list on a regular basis, and practice talking about them. You do not want to brag about yourself, or sound self-serving, but you do want to feel comfortable discussing what you are capable of.

There is nothing wrong with promoting yourself. Learning how to be proud of yourself and your successes is one way to improve your self confidence. Practice talking about these things with your closest friends and family members. Use a mirror, too. You will find a way to promote yourself without sounding arrogant.

Try new things. Go ahead and take a chance. Face your fears. A good way to build your confidence is to prove to yourself that you can do something, even if you once thought you could not. Perhaps you never learned how to swim or ride a bike. Now is the time. Maybe you are afraid of heights. Go ahead and climb a mountain.

Doing the thing you think you cannot do will provide a huge boost in your own confidence. Sharing the story with others will also change their perception of you. They will see you as someone who is willing to take chances and learn exciting new things.

Make a few cosmetic changes. You do not have to completely make yourself over. Simply paying attention to the way you present yourself can make a difference in your self confidence.
